Funeral in the Cards

Henry Allingam passed away the other day. As you can see, his service record is astonishing, going as he did from the RNAF to the RAF with Jutland in the mix.

Celebrated as the last of the Great War vets, much ado made of "cigarettes, whiskey and wild, wild women" only he was kidding and, frankly, took real good care of himself so's to make reunions and the Cenotaph regularly.

We got to talking about him elsewhere and like this picture better, though the above is "touching."

Didn't have a chance to make his decorations beyond the general issue. One's distinguished. Whoa... Légion d'honneur. Wiki's got the others as "Mutt and Jeff", the Brit's War and Victory Medals. An ace he were as well.

The tie? RAF, I'd say, but could be RNAF.
Real hard searching insignia images.
Not RAF stripes... custom job...
did someone do Henry a favor?

I'll bet he went with the old RNAF.
